When you download apps from the Android Market, Smart Launcher does its job right away. Usually, when you modify things in the system settings, your initial reaction is - how will I use this? Especially if it's a new launcher you use a thousand times a day on your cell phone.
But that didn't happen to me with smart launcher 5. It comes with many neat features such as adaptive icons, themes support, built-in widgets and so on. And what's best about it - you get to keep it free! I'm not sure why manufacturers charge for these features; maybe they make a lot of money from them and want to keep it for their own purposes.
The only thing I can recommend to you if you want to change the look and feel of your icons and customize the whole interface is - download a third party application called "Stock Icons" or "Stock icons pack". They are very cheap and will give you the same visual effects of Smart Launcher but at a fraction of the cost. You can also find some cool theme packages that allow you to easily change your phone's looks with just a few clicks of your mouse.
